Meet Dr. Siambanes, DO
Dr. Siambanes is the founder of Scoliosis Care and the director of the scoliosis center at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. Previously, he served as Director of Education, Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopedics at Riverside California County Regional Medical Center. He was also Co-chairman of the Medical Advisory Team for the Children’s Spine Foundation, and President of the Spine Section of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. Dr. Siambanes served as the primary orthopedic pediatric surgeon for Riverside County’s division of California Children’s Services. In this capacity he was involved in the orthopedic management of cerebral palsy and its effects on the walking child.
As director of the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Scoliosis Center, Dr. Siambanes has been involved in both the operative and non-operative treatment of all forms of pediatric spinal deformities. His devotion to the disabled child along with his ability to confront the most severe cases has resulted in local media attention. The rapid growth of the scoliosis center provides validation of the clear need for these services in the Tampa and surrounding area.
Dr. Siambanes is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, American Osteopathic Association, Scoliosis Research Society, and the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America. He has given multiple presentations and published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. His article titled, “The Influence of School Backpacks on Adolescent Low Back Pain,” published in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, addresses a growing national concern among parents of school children.
Dr. Siambanes is a physician co-designer of a state-of-the-art scoliosis instrumentation system. His goals were to design a system that was not only comprehensive and extremely effective but simplistic in use.
