A new study from researchers at Hong Kong Polytechnic University have shed light on the best mattresses for Scoliosis patients.
According to the study, the following are the best mattresses for scoliosis patients:
– Memory foam: This type of mattress provides conformity to the contours of the body, which offers good support and pressure relief. The researches advised patients to look for a mattress with a high density for better support and durability.
– Latex mattress: This type of mattress is made from natural or synthetic rubber which also contours to the body. Its surface distributes body weight and provides pressure relief while allowing changes in sleep positions.
– Hybrid mattress: This type of mattress combines the support of an innerspring with a comfort layer. Comfort layers may include memory foam, latex, cotton, or polyfoam.
– Airbeds: These contain adjustable air chambers that allow you to customize the level of support and comfort to meet your needs. They may be a good option for people who experience pain in different areas.
A good night’s sleep is crucial to physical and mental wellbeing.
“Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. The way you feel while you are awake depends in part on what happens while you are sleeping. During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health,” according to the National Institute of Health. “In children and teens, sleep also helps support growth and development. Getting inadequate sleep over time can raise your risk for chronic (long-term) health problems. It can also affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. Learn how sleep affects your heart and circulatory system, metabolism, respiratory system, and immune system and how much sleep is enough.”
