TAMPA, Fla. – Dr. David Siambanes, the founder of the Children’s Scoliosis Center and director of the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Scoliosis Center wasArthritis Foundation honored by the Arthritis Foundation of Florida on Thursday.
Siambanes was selected as the Arthritis Foundation’s Orthopedic Medical Honoree for his work with patients suffering from juvenile arthritis. During the luncheon, he spoke about the effects of arthritis on children and the community.
The goal of the luncheon was to bring local community leaders together and educate them about the scope and impact of arthritis on the community and what the Arthritis Foundation does to help. The luncheon also kicked off the Walk to Cure Arthritis season. The Walk to Cure Arthritis will be held on Saturday, May 7, at Al Lopez Park in Tampa.

Siambanes will serve as the orthopedic spokesperson for the event, taking on various leadership responsibilities to help increase support for the Walk to Cure Arthritis. He will continue to drive awareness among patients of the foundation and improve the lives of those living with the disease.
“It’s an honor to be a part of such a great cause,” said Siambanes. “The Arthritis Foundation of Florida does a wonderful job of bringing awareness to such a debilitating disease that is often overlooked, especially in children.”
Juvenile arthritis is an autoimmune disease, which attacks the joints, but can also attack vital organs. Over 300,000 children are affected by arthritis in the United States, including 16,000 children in Florida.
